An offshoot of the The Mr. Collection (a rental service for menswear) started in 2012, The Ms. Collection works a little differently than a service like Rent the Runway. Instead of shopping for an event or trip and choosing out one or two pieces to have sent to you, The Ms. Collection asks you to sign up for a specific collection (more on that in a minute), subscribe to it and fill out a tailor-made style profile; then, on the 15th of the month, they send you out a package filled with three-to-five clothing items or accessories that they think will mix well with your existing wardrobe (kind of like a Birch Box for clothes).
At the end of each month, you can choose to buy any or all of the boxed items; rent them for another month; or send back the box and get a new shipment on the next mail-out date (they have a countdown to the next shipping day on their website so you can tell how long the wait will be until you receive items as you’re signing up).
The three different collections to choose from are The Ms. Play ($49/month), The Ms. Business ($59/month) and The Ms. Combo ($113/month.) All three collections pull from a variety of high-designers and mainstream retailers and offer, respectively, casual, trendy pieces for The Ms. Play ladies, business casual looks for The Ms. Business subscribers and a combo option for those who choose The Ms. Combo.
The style profile is key to getting pieces that you’ll actually like and wear, so be sure to take your time as you fill it out. Overall, I like the fun and surprise of The Ms. Collection and enjoy using it to round out my closet, but I wouldn’t rely on it for a special occasion or if you are extremely particular about which designers you will and won’t wear.
Enjoy!
