Calgary is an indoor-shopping kind of townwalking around a trendy boutique area is unlikely in the winter (which sometimes feels like it lasts all year!); so many people opt to hit the malls, meaning this city has a lot of good ones!
 
TD Square not only has the distinction of being Calgary’s only downtown mall, it also has some fab stores like Birks’ (Canada’s answer to Tiffany), Holt Renfrew (Canada’s Neiman Marcus) and Aritzia. Devonian Gardens located in the elaborate shopping structure too (The only indoor public park in the city). 
 
Chinook Mall offers a wide variety of shops and restaurants, as well as fun things to see like €˜time capsule’ buried six feet under the mall. There’s also a full-scale model of an Albertosaurus (cousin to the T-Rex), exhibits featuring famous airplanes and a fully restored 1930s carousel mean Chinook is sure to be a hit with the kids. 
 
South Centre is a pretty typical mall, but if you are traveling with the whole family and want to do some solo shopping, their Green Door Stay and Play let’s you drop the kids in a fun and safe environment while you browse the shops. Similarly, if the kids need to let off steam and get out of the cold, you can pay a visit to Market Mall’s Monkey Around, the largest indoor mall playground in town. 
 
Of course, if you’re lucky enough to land some good weather when you’re visiting, there are some outdoor shopping options. Kensington village, just across the Louise Bridge from downtown, houses over 250 unique shops, independent restaurants and services. Walk through the neighborhood and enjoy the architecture of yester-year. Make sure to stop in at Crave Cupcakes for a sugar-fix and don’t miss a visit to Vine Styles, where highly trained €˜stylists’ will completely transform the way you think about wine-purchasing.
